Singapore's currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD), with denominations of 10,000, 1000, 500, 100, 50, 10, 5 and 2. ATMs for international access are available throughout the tiny island nation, as are commission-free currency exchange booths, especially in the areas of the Orchard Road and Little India. For purchasing goods in the country you will have to have Singapore dollars on you, but credit cards such as Diners Club, Master Card, American Express etc. are widely accepted in restaurants, supermarkets and shopping malls, but keep in mind that your minimal purchase should be over 20 Singapore dollars. It's also better to pay for taxi with Singapore dollars because if you use a credit card it will add a 10% administration fee on your ride fare. Also in order to avoid additional exchange rate charges, it is advised to have traveller's cheques in Pounds Sterling. Also keep in mind that in order to exchange money or use your travellers cheque you will need to have your passport handy.
