Kathmandu rests in a bowl shaped valley in central Nepal at the foothills of the Himalayas. The city of Kathmandu is the urban core of the Kathmandu Valley and is not only the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal but also the headquarters of the South Asian Assoication for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

It is a city of endless historic, artistic and cultural interests.
